FOREWORD BY NORMAN CARVER - PRESIDENT GOROKA FITNESS CLUB:

Lifestyle Bodybuilding covers a broad area - involving  physical & mental training, food nutrition & rest.  The lifestyle, encourages discipline, honesty & respect, whilst building an individual's self esteem.  The word Bodybuilding refers to the art of developing & improving your physical appearance.  With dedication - Bodybuilding enables you to take on any appearance, shape or form you desire within the bounds of your genetic makeup. As well physical exercise improves blood circulation & enables the brain to perform at optimum levels.

Bodybuilding therefore has become a very practical lifestyle - as it is our 'mind &  physical appearance' that we use to interact with the World, today.

Improved performance as a human being is the greatest result that can be achieved.  However it must be emphasised that for non-competitive bodybuilders, bodybuilding must become a complete lifestyle - that in addition to weight training & other physical exercises - should also include:  income producing work; socialising; leisure time activities; walking, swimming, family time & simple healthy meals.

Qualified Training:   Beginners & Novices to the lifestyle, will need to obtain basic training techniques from qualified trainers - with the handling of weights, & cardiovascular workouts.  This will ensure injury risks are minimised.   The basic 'rule of thumb', is to commence with lighter weights & easier workouts, progressing through to heavier workouts over longer periods of time.  Sensible training programmes coupled with dedicated habits, & good techniques will yield quality results.

Dieting & Food Nutrition:   Complimenting a successful weight & cardiovascular training programme is a balanced diet of nutritional food.  Whilst there are hundreds of dietry programmes worldwide proclaiming to have the answer to your health needs.
Lifestyle bodybuilders should focus on a well balanced diet, taking all food groups in moderation, and
importantly be well supplemented with fresh fruit & vegetables.  The  emphasis being  on a variety of natural, fresh, clean & healthy foods - that are readily available in your area.

Results for your Body:   Gym & weight training is not just about growing big.   Specific training techniques & methods - offer a range of results for your body.  From cardiovascular improvement; gains in muscular size; improvement in muscular defination; improvement in strenght & endurance.  Aswell - specific training excercises coupled with good nutrition & rest - will aid recovery from sickness & injury.

Dedication, Committment & Motivation:   Lifestyle Bodybuilders consider the time & effort given to training, nutrition & rest - as vital ingredients - investing in the future longevity & functionality of their own body.  With this approach the lifestyle bodybuilder is able to maintain the interest & motivation to keep living the lifestyle, especially when tangiable improvements & gains become apparant over time.

Improved performance - as a well balanced human being - in mind, body & personality are the greatest results that can be acheived.
